Tighe & Bond, Inc., a northeastern leader in engineering, design, and environmental consulting announced today that Jonathan Ives, PE has joined the firm as a Senior Project Manager in our growing Transportation Structures/ Bridge Design practice in the Land Use and Transportation Business Line.
Working from our firm’s Middletown, Connecticut office, Ives will contribute his decades of design and project delivery experience toward accelerating the expansion of our bridge practice into the Connecticut market. He has designed and managed an array of transportation structure projects including vehicular, railroad, and pedestrian bridges for both State and municipal clients. Ives also has experience with both Accelerated Bridge Construction and Alternative Delivery methods, providing clients with the expertise to bring their projects to completion utilizing advanced techniques that shorten construction and reduce impacts to the traveling public. His diverse technical acumen, knowledge of bridge funding programs, and relationships with staff at the Connecticut Department of Transportation will provide an invaluable resource to the firm and our clients.
He is an alumnus of the University of Connecticut, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil/Structural Engineering. Since that time, he has contributed to several landmark bridge projects throughout Connecticut including the Department of Transportation’s Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge (Q-Bridge) in New Haven. The $557M project included the design of a signature extradosed bridge (one of the first in the U.S.) carrying I-95 over the Quinnipiac River, the reconstruction of the I-95/I-91/Route 34 interchange, and miles of approach roadway and bridges. Ives takes equal pride in the projects he has completed for municipal clients throughout Connecticut, most recently including Farmington, Norwalk, Stamford, Southington, and Waterbury.
“We are thrilled to have Jon join our growing team of bridge engineers. He is a great bridge engineer with comprehensive experience in all types of bridge structures, design approaches, project procurement methods, and construction issues. He is a leader in our field and a terrific colleague. We are looking forward to his leadership and contributions as we expand our bridge design practice, providing additional opportunities for our clients to rely on Tighe & Bond to deliver projects that meet their transportation infrastructure needs,” says Brian Brenner, Principal Bridge Engineer at Tighe & Bond.
