Planning for a Resilient Community Along the Hudson
Working in conjunction with Four Corners Planning, we undertook the preparation of a revision to the Village of Tivoli’s 1991 Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan (LWRP). The update involved transcribing the 1991 typewritten document into an editable document and assisting the Steering Committee, formed by the Village, during their monthly meetings to guide the update process consistent with the NYSDOS Local Waterfront Revitalization Programs in the Coastal Area: Guidance Manual for Preparing Local Programs, March 2019.
The work with Four Corners Planning includes developing new GIS based mapping of resources, updating assessment of resources, creating a new vision process with the community resulting in updated community priorities, such as incorporating resiliency measures, reviewing the current zoning, and integrating other state-wide initiatives in the plan (e.g. the Blueway Trail System and the Empire State Trail). The current LWRP has hand-drawn graphics, and most of the original priorities of the 1991 LWRP have been achieved. It is anticipated, based on the current progress of the LWRP, which was originally delayed over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that the update will be completed in the Fall of 2024.
