Wayne Bates leads our firm’s efforts to assist clients with climate mitigation and adaptation strategies. Wayne has over 35 years of experience in the field of environmental engineering, with a focus on designing and executing operational improvements.

Wayne’s experience includes leading and managing sustainability assessment, benchmarking, and strategy projects for government, manufacturing, and commercial clients. He assists clients with complex issues by developing new and creative methods for success and gains great satisfaction from seeing improvements from even the smallest process modifications.

Wayne is also an adjunct professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and UMass Dartmouth teaching courses in Sustainable Infrastructure and Sustainable Manufacturing. He is a traveling mentor for the UMass Amherst Engineers Without Borders Ghana team, and is the former NEWEA Sustainability Committee Chair.

Life Outside of Work

Wayne has a long list of hobbies, none of which he has mastered, and enjoys spending time during the summers on Cape Cod fishing the waters of Nantucket Sound and Cape Cod Bay.
