Our Resiliency Work On Cape Cod
With numerous populated coastal areas, significant marine infrastructure, and diverse ecosystems concentrated along its shores and waterways, Cape Cod, Massachusetts faces significant potential risks from the effects of climate change. Coastal communities, like those on Cape Cod, can mitigate these risks protecting critical infrastructure, safeguarding natural habitats, and adopting sustainable land use practices. We have helped our clients on Cape Cod implement a range of strategies, some of which include:
- Designing new and upgrading existing coastal infrastructure, protecting against storms and extreme weather, thereby improving coastal communities’ ability to handle extreme storms and sea level rise.
- Restoring the natural ecology through adding or replacing failing culverts, restoring tidal flow, as well as rehabilitating or removing dams, re-establishing habitats for wildlife.
- Stabilizing coastal embankments through engineering replacements of deteriorating bulkheads or revetments.
- Improving water quality in marshes, rivers, streams, and other waterways.
Our team has prepared a GIS-based map with some of our most recent coastal resiliency projects across the Cape Cod shoreline. Click on the pins to learn more about each project.
