Orleans Sewer and Treatment Facility Completed
On February 15th, the Town of Orleans Board of Water and Sewer commissioners unanimously voted to deem the town’s new wastewater treatment facility substantially complete. The new facility replaces the former tri-town septage treatment facility, which was demolished in 2019. The project team broke ground on the new facility and collection system in September 2020.
Tighe & Bond acted as the Town’s Owner’s Project Manager for the design and construction phases of this $47M sewer and treatment facility construction project. Our work on this project has guided the Town and the design team toward the development of a 340,000-gallon-per-day sequencing batch reactor treatment plant and over 42,000 linear feet of collection system piping. The system utilizes a unique series of wick wells for the discharge of treated effluent to the ground. Our team also provided input on several novel treatment technologies the Town is deploying, including permeable reactive barriers and aquaculture.
