MIT Student Awarded Tighe & Bond NSBE Scholarship
Tighe & Bond continues to partner with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) to provide scholarship opportunities for students entering STEM fields and looking to make a difference in their communities. Our President & CEO Bob Belitz and Talent Acquisition Team met with our latest scholarship recipient, Amir White.
Amir is currently double majoring in mechanical engineering and physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Only a sophomore at his “dream school”, Amir is already diving into the engineering opportunities available such as joining the MIT Robo Team and MIT Rocket Team. He is still deciding what his career path will look like, but one aspect is clear, his goal is to have a positive impact on people’s lives.
“As I’ve gotten older engineering has been more and more about figuring out what I can design to leave the world a better place. Now that I’m in college I get more opportunities to interact directly with technical coursework, companies, and research projects that demonstrate how to use engineering to positively impact the world around us. And it is through this global perspective that I intend to realize my place in the world,” said Amir.
We look forward to seeing Amir make a difference in his future engineering career. Our firm is proud to offer an additional Tighe & Bond NSBE Spring Scholarship and is accepting applications now.
