Connecticut Road Safety Summit: Envisioning Safety Statewide
On May 30, our Transportation team assisted the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CT DOT), the University of Connecticut T2 Center, and Jacobs with facilitating the Connecticut Road Safety Summit. A part of Connecticut’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP), the summit focused on collaborative ways to increase road safety and prevent speed-based crashes on the state’s highways.
Chris Granatini and Matt Stoutz led the Infrastructure Emphasis Area (EA), while Craig Yannes and Tom Wamser led the Pedestrian EA breakout sessions. These sessions facilitated feedback on current SHSP implementation strategies from a diverse group of policy makers, planners, engineers, advocacy groups, and emergency responders. Collene Byrne, Kevin Huang, and Dan Fitzgerald circulated through the breakout rooms to gain insight into current traffic safety engineering strategies.
