BBJ Ranks Tighe & Bond One of Largest Engineering Firms in Massachusetts
The Boston Business Journal (BBJ) again ranked Tighe & Bond one of the largest Massachusetts engineering firms in its Largest Engineering Firms in Massachusetts list that was published on February 23. Tighe & Bond secured the #12 spot based on 2017 engineering billings for Massachusetts projects, advancing two spots from its #14 position last year. The firm ranked highly in the following categories:
- #5 in the most professional engineers licensed in Massachusetts (89)
- #8 in the largest 1-year increase in Massachusetts billings (18.41% or $5.5 million)
- #10 in the most Massachusetts-based staff (237)
- #12 in 2017 engineering billings for projects in Massachusetts ($35.2 million)
“Tighe & Bond’s Massachusetts engineering billings increased by over 18% last year because of our firm’s strong penetration into the eastern Massachusetts municipal and power utility markets,” says President and CEO David Pinsky. “We see the market for 2018 as robust, and anticipate continued growth in Massachusetts, as well as the northeast region,” he adds.
In 2015, Tighe & Bond opened an office in Westwood, MA that is already at capacity with more than 30 people, and the firm has plans for expansion this spring. Tighe & Bond’s full complement of services can now be provided by the skilled multi-disciplinary staff located in this eastern Massachusetts office.
Tighe & Bond also has been successful in winning new work and providing services to new clients in all the markets it serves: Building Services, Environment, Land Use and Transportation, and Water. Some of the firm’s more significant projects in 2017 focused on coastal infrastructure resiliency improvements, water and wastewater capital improvements, and power utility projects associated with transmission line upgrades.
Over the past several years, Tighe & Bond has accelerated its geographic expansion and staffing growth to further reinforce its position as a New England leader in engineering and environmental services.
The firm provides comprehensive engineering and environmental services to hundreds of public and private clients across the northeastern United States, with emphasis on the education, energy, government, healthcare, industrial, real estate, and water/wastewater market. A staff of more than 330 work from offices located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Westwood, Pocasset, Worcester and Westfield, Massachusetts; Middletown and Shelton, Connecticut, and Rhinebeck, New York.
