Richard Houghton is a principal landscape architect with almost two decades of landscape architecture and urban design experience. His project management expertise includes award-winning urban parks, multi-modal paths and trails, streetscapes, plazas, playgrounds, and performance spaces. He has also collaborated on academic campus designs for institutions such as Boston University, Harvard University, and Boston College.
With considerable interest in the public realm, Rich’s work includes historical and culturally significant sites, from the Boston Public Garden to new multi-modal trails and ecological restoration opportunities along North Mill Pond in downtown Portsmouth, NH. Recently, Rich completed the award-winning Hancock Adams Common, a transformative planning and design project in downtown Quincy that realigned the urban fabric to create an activated park and streetscape. Rich highly values the collaborative process with clients to deliver successful projects. He is currently serving as Project Manager for the Arborway Parkways Improvement Project, a one-mile stretch within Boston’s Emerald Necklace park system in collaboration with Howard Stein Hudson and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation.

Outside of work Rich can be found performing throughout New England with his band Big Ol’ Dirty Bucket and exploring the outdoors with his family.
