Reconstruction of South Pier at Milton Landing Park Underway
Reconstruction of the Milton Landing Pier, part of the economic revitalization plan for the Town of Marlborough’s waterfront, is nearing completion. In June 2020, Tighe & Bond and the Town broke ground on the renovation of the south pier at Milton Landing Park. The 300-foot long timber pier was used for industrial purposes until 1999. After it was no longer in service, the pier suffered damage from major storm events, winter river ice, and a vessel collision that left several timber piles broken. The pier is also adjacent to the recently restored historic Milton Train Station.
Renovations will enable the Town to give residents safe access to the pier for recreational boating and fishing. In addition to traditional public uses, the planned uses for the pier include potential port access for tour boats such as the Hudson River sloop Clearwater and the historic steamship SS Columbia.
In 2016, Tighe & Bond conducted a detailed assessment to understand the condition of the pier and submitted preliminary designs that included ADA accessibility for all visitors. The team went on to lead the project’s permitting needs, final design, bidding process and is overseeing the construction phase services.
